8/23/2008-Charlotte Harbor Challenge 2008
This year’s event is going to be held at Laishley Park in beautiful downtown Punta Gorda.  In addition to
the great draw of fishing, we are adding something new that everyone one is sure to love… Tasty Ribs!
Local restaurants and amateurs will compete in the Ultimate Rib Challenge to see who has the best ribs
in the area.  The ribs will be available for all to enjoy in this finger-licking good competition.  In addition to
tasty food, we will have a kid’s area, booths with local vendors and other great activities.

11/22/2008-Charlotte Harbor Nature Festival
The Ninth Annual Charlotte Harbor Nature Festival will be held Saturday, November 22, 2008 from 10 a.m.
to 3 p.m. at the Charlotte County Sports Complex located at 2300 El Jobean Rd/SR 776 in Port Charlotte.
The Charlotte Harbor Nature Festival, a regional celebration, is a family-friendly event where people can
learn about topics affecting the natural environment of southwest Florida. This includes our estuaries,
native plants and animals, fossils, wildlife rehabilitation, water conservation, marine life and much, much
more. This is accomplished through a wide variety of activities for both adults and children, which
include guided walks in Tippecanoe Environmental Park, guest speaker presentations, hands-on
activities, exhibits and vendors, music, a Children’s Discovery Zone and more. A committee of
volunteers, who represent a diverse group of organizations, is dedicated to making this Festival exciting
and informative. Admission and parking are both free.
